The authoritarian hold on America, aided by the so-called Patriot Act, is getting ever stronger. Agents can now surveil the communications of law-abiding protesters, minor party activists and dissidents without warrants, and keep them from getting jobs or government services, disrupt the legal activities of minor political parties, and generally act like an unelected shadow government.
The government, since the days of the Bush II regime is no better than some of the dictatorships around the world, and alleged ones, that they hypocritally criticize. There will be no change, unfortunately, until we vote them out and vote in real representatives of the people.
